About Birmingham Angels

Birmingham Angels is a family-run care company based on Bull Street in Birmingham city centre. We help families across Birmingham and the West Midlands find the right live-in carer, so the people they love can stay at home with dignity and independence.

Our name says what we aim to be: a reassuring presence in the background, always looking out for the people we support. We're local, we know the area, and we believe good care starts with getting to know the person - not just their care needs.

How we match carers

  1. We listen first

A conversation about routines, personality, interests and what worries you most.

  2. A free assessment

Usually at home, or on the ward before discharge, to understand the support needed.

  3. Careful matching

We compare your needs with carers' experience and personality - not just who's free.

  4. Meet before you decide

You see the carer's profile and can ask for someone else if it doesn't feel right.

  5. We keep checking in

Regular reviews, and quick changes if needs or circumstances change.

How carers are checked

DBS checks

Every carer we introduce is DBS-checked before we propose them to a family.

Background checks

Carers go through comprehensive background checks before we introduce them.

Training and experience

We look for relevant training and experience for each client's needs.

Our CQC status, explained

Under the Health and Social Care Act 2008, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) defines companies like Birmingham Angels as an introductory agency. Our role is to find, vet and carefully match carers with clients, rather than directly employing carers to deliver regulated personal care.

In practice, that means you have a real say in how care is delivered, while we handle the searching, checking and matching, review the arrangement regularly and arrange cover for carer breaks.
