The first weeks after a hospital stay are when people are most vulnerable - to another fall, to not eating or drinking enough, or to losing confidence. Convalescence care puts a live-in carer in place from the day you come home, so recovery can carry on safely in your own surroundings.
As you get stronger, support is reduced. Many people need a few weeks; some find they'd like a little ongoing help afterwards.

Call us as soon as a discharge date is mentioned. We can talk to you and, where helpful, the ward team, so we understand what support is needed. After discharge you may also be offered free NHS or council reablement for up to six weeks; a live-in carer can work alongside it and cover the hours in between.
